Bushwacker Drink Recipe

Think of this drink as a creamy chocolate pina colada.  Yep, the Bushwacker drink recipe is that good.  But, a quick word of caution, these don’t taste like they have much alcohol so they go down very easy.  Take it easy with this drink as people have a tendency to get “bushwacked”.

History

So, where did this wonderful concoction come from?  It was invented in 1975 at The Ship’s Store – Sapphire Pub in Sapphire Village Saint Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.  Angie Conigliro and Tom Brokamp created the drink and quickly named it after a guest’s dog, Bushwack, an Afghan hound.  Bushwack’s parents were flight attendants and rarely ever traveled without him.

Later, Linda Murphy, owner of the Sandshaker Lounge in Pensacola Beach, Florida brought the recipe back and updated it.

Since 1986, there has been an annual Bushwacker Festival held at Quietwater Beach on Pensacola Beach, Florida to celebrate the drink.  Definitely a festival everyone should plan to attend at least once!
