Bad Boy Burrito Key West, it’s more than a burrito place

Out on Simonton Street, more specifically 1128 Simonton, you will find Bad Boy Burrito Key West.  A small walk up window where you can order a tasty lunch, snack or dinner.  It’s where magic comes from.

Diners, Drive Ins and Dives stopped here, well the old location, when Guy was in town.  He highlighted the place as a Mexican joint, but to me, it’s simply really good food.

Easy Ordering

Bad Boy Burrito isn’t fussy or complicated.  You walk up to the order window and place your order.  See… simple.  What to order?  Well, you can choose from a burrito (thus the name), tacos or simply order “naked” (that’s slang for “served over rice ‘n beans – no tortilla).

Step number one is choose your protein.  Pick from meat, veggie or seafood selections.  The seafood is locally sourced in case you are leaning that direction.  Step number two is choose your sauces.  Mild to hot and everything in-between.  Step number three is choose your toppings.  So, so, many choices.  Really, make it your own creation.  Choose from either a phattie (tortilla rolled with rice and beans) or go naked… both are great.  To rev up your taste buds, here’s a link to their menu.

Food Tour Stop

This is a stop on the Key West Food Tours.  On the tour you will have some of Bad Boy Burrito’s killer fresh fish tacos.  They are served on homemade soft corn tortillas with fresh locally caught fish, cabbage, cilantro, sour cream, radishes and jalapeños.  Not on the food tour?  The fish tacos are available to everyone!  I loved hearing how Bad Boy works with the local fisherman to source their fish.  You really can taste the freshness of not only the fish, but the sauces and tortillas in every bite.

Wait, there’s more?

Not in the mood for a taco or a phattie?  How about a salad?  Or, can’t decide how to create your phattie?  Choose from a whole list of favorites.

Enjoy the outdoor courtyard next door while eating.  The Bottle Cap, next door, is open from 11am to 4am daily and has been “serving thirsty islanders since 1934”.  It’s a cool, funky place with tv’s, a jukebox, pool table and, of course, a full bar.  After all it is Key West, who would think about enjoying a fresh fish taco without a cold beer?

Head over to Bad Boy Burrito Key West and order up a phattie.  Open daily from 11am to 10pm.
